Pastor Roberts, I hear that I can go to Heaven any time I want. Is that true?

Heaven encounters are biblical. There are those who see Heaven and those who visit Heaven. God took them and brought them back. These are real and occur. Paul described being in the third heaven in 2 Corinthians 12:2. He said he “heard things so astounding that they cannot be expressed in words, things no human is allowed to tell.” In Revelation, chapters 4-6, John is caught up in the Spirit with Jesus in all His glory in Heaven.

In Isaiah 6:1-4, the prophet had a vision of Jesus on His throne in Heaven. Ezekiel, in chapters 1-3 and 10, was given visions of Heaven, seeing the Lord on His throne, cherubim, and majestic and mysterious beasts. If they were actually in Heaven, we are not told. However, the descriptions of Heaven in Old and New Testaments are the same.

The question is, Were the trips to Heaven by the will of these men or the will of God? No place in the Bible do we have an example of men or women initiating a visit to Heaven; God always surprises them. Only by His sovereign will do people visit Heaven. It was this way when I visited Heaven as an eight-year-old boy and every other believer I know who has had a bona fide experience like mine. Jesus surprised us!

If someone is having a self-willed Heaven experience, it is demonically orchestrated. Remember, not every supernatural experience is from God – no matter how wonderful! And Satan knows everything about Heaven. He can appear as an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14) and give you a counterfeit experience that seems real. He is the great deceiver!

As much as many believers want to visit Heaven, not many do. We must be content in God alone, that He knows what is best for us. After all, He has given us a lot to do now, here on Earth. And, we must remember that one day we will all be in Heaven forever!

That should be enough! We will all get there!
